“Stars in the making” -

The brothers, separated in age by just over two years, have never played in the same team together, and are now on the brink of finally achieving their dream by putting pen to paper for Capitals for the 2010 season.
Exciting winger Josey Portillo (left) plays college soccer for Florida Gulf Coast University of the NCAA Division I and joins Capitals after a good college season. He also played previously Capitals and chose to remain with Baton Rouge for the 2010 season.
Coach Hayers has also played alongside Josey and said "His outstanding talent was evident when he was a youngster and he has certainly surpassed his potential. He is a great signing for me and for the club."
Capitals’ General Manager Ben Callon added "Josey is the type of player that fans want to see. As an exciting winger who can play on either wing he will add an extra dimension to the team.”
Josey said of his signing "This is the most excited I’ve ever been before a season. It’s my second season in the PDL with Capitals and I know it’s a great choice, with the new staff and array of talent coming. I promise the fans an interesting season and some great entertainment."
Central midfielder and younger brother Justin Portillo (right) currently attends Grace King High School in Metairie and plays for the Chicago Fire Juniors Louisiana (previously called La Franiere Fire Under 18s) in Kenner, under head coach and father Jose. Both brothers have attested to the influence of their father for their ability and the way they approach the game.

Justin will not only join his brother but two other members of the Chicago Fire Juniors, Joe Hart and Jordan Schwartz, have already signed for Baton Rouge. Justin’s ability has been well known for some time by Capitals’ GM Ben Callon who has watched the Fire on several occasions. Callon added: "As soon as I appointed Stuart Hayers as coach, I made him well aware of Justin and as soon as Stuart saw him play he was very impressed.
"Justin has phenomenal talent and will certainly go on to play at a higher level. He will benefit from this season and we will look to move him on immediately. He has such a natural gift for someone so young and the fans can look forward to seeing a future star in the making."
Justin is delighted to be playing for Capitals and added: "I’m very excited and thankful for the opportunity to play with the Baton Rouge this season. I am looking forward to playing alongside experienced players and fighting for a spot to play an important role in the team. Playing with the caliber of these players will also help me prepare for my college game as well as the rest of my soccer career."
