CAPITALS FIND TREASURE AT THE END OF RAINBOW

The Baton Rouge Capitals played the Mississippi Brilla this past Sunday at Olympia Stadium. The game seemed to be going the Capitals way as the Brilla team looked tired and lethargic. However, the chances missed by the home team kept piling up. Gino Ray hit the cross bar after finishing a cross with a powerful header. John Markey missed a face to face encounter with the Mississippi keeper. Gui Reis also missed a wide open breakaway. Several shots sailed close but were not good enough to put the first goal in.

To make matters worse for the visitors, on the 60th minute Mississippi had a player ejected. It seemed like a matter of moments for the goal to come... till the rain came. Due to the lightning and the torrential rain, the match had to be interrupted for about an hour. The players and fans (more than 320) had to patiently wait for the officials' approval to resume the game.

As the rain subsided, a beautiful rainbow formed at Olympia Stadium... and the Capitals followed the sign and collected a 1-0 win upon resuming the match. Shortly after the game restarted, the Capitals picked from where they left. After a free kick on the right side of the field, Lucas Almeida (Brazil) put the ball in the net and collected the prize for the Capitals. It was the third win in a row and an animated celebration ensued. The Brilla could not muster energy for a reaction.

Now the Capitals will work towards an important back to back date with the Laredo Heat next weekend on the road.
