With the 2010 season only a few weeks away, Baton Rouge CULT Capitals has as good as cemented its squad with the signings of Mississippi stars Andrew Wright and Keith Armstrong – in the face of several USL professional teams.
Both players have professional experience in the USL and have previously played for
rival PDL franchise Mississippi Brilla. Despite offers to join some pro teams for
pre-
“I fully expect both players to be leaders in this year’s team, which is filled with exciting young talent,” remarked Capitals’ coach Stuart Hayers. “Both Andrew and Keith have huge roles to play for us and they complement each other very well; Keith being a defender who enjoys going forward and bagging goals, and Andrew being a big strong forward who scores goals for fun.”
Andrew Wright spent his collegiate career with NCAA Division One powerhouse Wake Forest, where he split his time between American Football and Soccer. His athletic stature made him a successful football player at Wake helping them to their highest national ranking, but, following his college career, his passion for soccer led him to play professionally in Brazil for CF Rio de Janiero in the Campioneato.
Andrew decided he wanted to stay in the states for soccer and had numerous offers to play in the USL this past winter; however the CULT Capitals were able to secure his services quickly to fend of interest from a number of USL and PDL clubs.
Keith Armstrong is a lightning-
Despite several opportunities to go to big NCAA DI programs, Keith opted to remain
local and attended Mississippi College NCAA DIII in Jackson, MS. During his time
in the ASC, Armstrong was a three-
