British-born Hayers, from Watford, England, is a powerful attacking left-back who began his career in the League of Wales playing for GARW FC near Cardiff. He now holds coaching badges in both Britain and the US and has a BSC in Coaching and a Masters in business. Hayers has achieved great success on the American soccer scene, having been a three-time all-American at Lynn college and was assistant coach at NCAA Division Two soccer powerhouse Lynn University in Boca Raton FL, where his team made the post season and was ranked number one in the nation.

Greatest achievement

Hayers spent over three years in the PDL and was an MVP for two years running while at Shockers, and also played for PDL rivals Panama City Pirates. He considers his greatest soccer achievement as playing in the World Games for Great Britain in Serbia last summer - and he is currently in the process of recruiting two further players from that squad!

Hayers is the first of several high-profile players to be announced at Capitals, and he is looking forward to making a mark as a coach and as a player. "I am extremely excited to be part of this club. The management team is putting together something very special and I am thrilled to be a part of it.

"My goal is to bring a winning mentality to Baton Rouge,” declared Hayers. “I have been given every possible resource and intend on making that count by winning our league AND the playoffs. The support I have received from both Ben Callon and Edwin Ruiz has been unparalleled and the backroom staff is developing some real chemistry."

On being a player-coach, Stuart added: “I would say that I am trying to recruit 22 players better than me but if I can prove myself in training like anyone else and can benefit the team on the field then I will be playing."

“Stuart is a young coach who has worked and played for some of the best coaches in the business and he can quickly establish himself as a driving force behind the Capitals."
